The MOOZYCA PORTAL

Hello Tropicalistas, do you Know Radio Zyca? if not then this is the time, like the Tropical Diaspora the Moozyca friends have a special taste for unconventional good music without prejudice and like us in Berlin promoting diversity in the this main stream ocean, for the first time i am proud to have a mix tape selected for the Radio Zyca Broadcast, also “Moozyca is a multimedia portal that converge text, photo, audio and video in a single platform. The tool is designed to be functional and interactive, making navigation easier and enjoyable. The Content is marked by diversity, with influence from the streets of gonzo journalism and literature. Regardless of the style of each contributor, the commitment is always the reflection, with the unveiling of new worlds and the dissection of prejudice.

Moozyca is a site for anyone serious about music. Founded by two journalists, a programmer at the beginning of 2015 the portal was created to address the musical theme in a different way – with well-established themes, dialogical interviews, expert opinions and sour discussions.

Tired of seeing the music treated banal way in the press, the zyca team decided to create a platform to spread access to musical quality content. In addition, the intention was to make room for independent artists and musicians, developing new languages and musical discourse.

https://www.facebook.com/moozyca //  http://moozyca.com

Just like that or just like it should be, after my mix tape was online in the moozyca.com where in a short time my soundcloud account got 100 of clicks putting the Mix Tape on the 5000 clicks mark i got a question from the Moozyca office if i would write an article about me and the tropical diaspora for the portal, also logical consequence is here in Portuguese…

here in English…

Thank You! Moozyca!

The ManifestoZyca

“Without music, life would be a mistake!”

Life is often the opposite of what is expected. But even so, life is even better to die, “buttoning his jacket”, “kick the bucket”, “disembodied”, Unliving or whatever isn’t ? There are many things that make life pleasurable even in stormy times. And music is one of those magical artifacts that completely change our perception. According to Friedrich Nietzsche, “Without music, life would be a mistake“; and we agree with him.

The great mission of Moozyca is to bring the music of the people. And bring with music, thinking, joy, reflection and change.

Check it out! Garra

Forró Maragandá @ Tropical Diaspora VOL.40

The Brazilian Latin rhythms are known world wide, we experience in the last years a explosion popularity in Europe of one specific rhythm, also the Forró. Berlin as the unofficial diaspora capital in Germany couldn’t stay out in this development and bring out for sure one of the most powerful forró band in Europe. With a strong traditional forró repertoire rhythms like xote, baião and arrasta-pé. The basic formation of the band with Philipe Alves playing Accordion, João Afojubá with Percussions, Fabiano Lima with the Zabumba and Mariano Habib with the Triangle is enough to bring the floor to dance together all night long and beyond bring people from all districts in the city to the place where they play. In the last two tropical diaspora events the band had a guest from Pernambuco – Brazil playing Rabeca the violin instrument adapted to the forró, his name is Hans Santos and live in Germany for a while this year and will be in the next event for the last time this year, also don´t miss the 28.08.15 inna YAAM Berlin. The last event in the whole original formation featuring Hans Santos with the Rabeca was the highlight in this year for me as Tropical Diaspora and for our guest that couldn’t imagine what a wonderful night they would experience.

Fresh from gigs in Brazil, the DJ are kicking off a new series of monthly parties in the YAAM (www.yaam.de), featuring many local Bands and DJ´s from Europe and worldwide.

About the Music from a diasporic point of view

THE TROPICAL DIASPORA EXPERIENCE
LIVE AND STRICTLY VINYL

*Diaspora is the dispersion of a population from their native land (from Greek διασπορά, “scattering, dispersion”)
About the Music from a diasporic point of view
Recently, scholars have distinguished between different kinds of diaspora, based on its causes such as imperialism, trade or labor migrations, or by the kind of social coherence within the diaspora community and its ties to the ancestral lands. Some diaspora communities maintain strong political ties with their homeland. Other qualities that may be typical of many diasporas are thoughts of return, relationships with other communities in the diaspora, and lack of full assimilation into the host country. With the Tropical Diaspora Roots Sound we try to make reflections on a diasporic phenomenon in the Music. This refection show us that the whole Music we select in our events and all other movements connected to the tropical term come originally from Africa. All music styles at the and come directly from there or was reinvented in an African diaspora in other continents like south America, Carib or north America. Currently we experience the clash of all Diaspora in Europe where all people from all over the world can meet and share his own musical influences with other people. The result of this melting pot we call TROPICAL DIASPORA and fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony that happens in Berlin at the YAAM. Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Tropical Diaspora is. You have to hear it for yourself! An example of our concept of diaspora in the music, the Tropical Diaspora Vol. 26 in the old YAAM Venue -12 Grad Celsius. Two legends in the Afrobeat together in the stage with a young band with guys from many countries in Europe also Akwasi & Kologbo Feat. World Squad with the song by  Kologbo – Remember Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

“I want to play music that is meaningful, that stands the test of time,”. “It’s no longer commercial; it’s deep African music, serious music,….” – FELA KUTI

Dear Tropicalistas,

all regulars of our events know that Tropical Diaspora cares not only about Music, but about everything and everybody related to our events, from the people that work here to the music selection we play and the bands we engage for the live shows. We don’t only go to a venue and do some event for our pleasure, but we try to involve everybody in our matter. For example, in the venue YAAM where Tropical Diaspora has its origins, in this place every single person that works on the day of our event is part of it: starting from the cleaners to the people tending the bar and the technicians and of course – most visible – the bands and guest DJs. A few years ago, at the first big event – Tropical Diaspora was still called Brazil Roots – we started with a Charity event for a great social institution in São Paulo.

tp_slideshow_044

To remember this tradition in a time where the refugee situation is becoming grim reality for more and more people, we at Tropical Diaspora would like to invite everybody to bring some contribution, i.e. donation for the refugees in Berlin to our events. An immigrant myself, I remember the first thing I needed was a dictionary, and you can easily imagine that the refugees in Germany would need one urgently.

Here is our suggestion to all guests at the Tropical DiaporaEvents in Berlin:

¿Empieza a civilizarse o empieza a suicidarse?

Solano Trindade

* Recife, 24 07 1908
+ Rio de Janeiro, 19 02 1974

“In Brazil, the idea of a Black literature never was, and still is not to this day, widely accepted by general audiences. However, from the works of Solano Trindade and Abdias do Nascimento in the first half of the twentieth century to the more recent experimentations of the poets featured in literary journal Cadernos negros, authors have used creative writing as a laboratory for this problematic identity, questioning the dominant Eurocentric narratives of Brazilian history to pave the way for a distinctly Afro-Brazilian voice. Deeply aware of the lingering effects of slavery on contemporary society, these poets have experimented with themes, perspectives, and language from a specific perspective, forming together a community of discourse that has yet to be fully acknowledged alongside better-known examples from the French- and English-speaking Americas.”

Liebe Yaamies!

One Love Euer YAAM

Fr. 12.10. gegen 13:30 Uhr

ELZA SOARES LIVE IN CONCERT BERLIN 2011

ELZA SOARES LIVE IN CONCERT BERLIN 2011

English

“Born in Rio de Janeiro, Samba great and jazz diva Elza Soares is applauded around the world for her husky voice and samba-scat singing. She enjoyed a long string of hits during the 60s and 70s, and later came back and took the world by storm when Caetano Velosa tapped her to do a duet in the mid-80s.

Elza Soares was voted one of the ten artists of the millennium in 2000 by the BBC. After five years without recording, and a discography of 26 titles ranging from pop hits to intellectual cults and extensive ostracism, Elza took back the status and aura of a controversial diva, world singer and spokeswoman of Negritude in 2000.

Elza is a samba legend, recognized by successive generations, and with an intuitive talent for jazz and improvisation that rank her with Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. Her 27th disc did not hide the breadth of her outstanding vocal technique or the natural resources that make her a rare phenomenon. In it, she transcended the boundaries that left her with one foot in samba and the other in jazz. Do Cóccix até o Pescoço portrayed the other side of MPB, “Brazilian black music.”

With her ripping vocals and unique timbre, this artist has instinctively arrived at a synthesis of African-American and Brazilian music. Her unrivalled swing and improvisation rank her among the great American ladies of jazz and blues, their spiritual sister, because her voice betrays a life that could have been drowned in sorrow but was miraculously transformed into generous, peerless song.”

¿Empieza a civilizarse o empieza a suicidarse?
